I feel like I'm taking Crazy Pills

10 nominations for best picture? Really? and listen, I saw Avatar twice, really enjoyed the movie - great effects, 3d was awesome. But does anyone really think it's the best picture of the year? A scientist who loves the earth, a businessman who just cares about money, a general who just wants to fight, "indians" who really love their land and don't want to be kicked off it, a guy who goes to the indians and learns to appreciate their culture, and a resource call "un-obtainium??" Even Blind Side was a better movie in my opinion (which is also nominated for Best Picture?).

And, in my opinion, it's a slap in the face to Pixar who gets nominated only when they expand it to 10 movies. Up was a fantastic movie, but so was The Incredibles, Ratatouille, WallE, etc. and they're only recognized once we dilute the category?

Let Cameron have his billions in profit - that's fine, he deserves it because it's a well-made and revolutionary movie, but the oscars aren't the people's choice awards. We don't nominate a Twilight, Transformers, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spiderman, etc. just because a million people saw it. Heck, why not nominate a hilarious comedy like The Hangover?

Ok. I'm done. lol.

I created the piano key necktie!

I believe that I recall someone once telling a reporter outside of the movies that Spiderman made him proud to be an American - or something like that. Seriously, you don't think it merited a best picture nomination? ;)

I agree, I think people just love Cameron's work because it was Cameron's. I wish things would change in the future.

Check this out. It shows how Avatar and Pocahontas are basically the same movie. Pretty funny.

I do agree agree with you that Avatar was an enjoyable movie to watch but it was not a best picture for me too. But well, maybe they have their own reasons for it. Thanks!
